Change Makers Need Energy

Change making seems to be one of those marketing buzz words that I’ve heard many times in the past. I’ve probably at one point-in-time rolled my eyes at an over zealous speaker trying to rouse a crowd into becoming a “Change Maker”. My skepticism is not with results of helping more people create positive change in their lives or in the world, I love the idea of helping people be the best they can be. It’s the HOW I’ve always been hard pressed to accept. Most of the time it feels either too vague or too general. Nothing I can sink my teeth into.

Empathy for others starts with the individual and specifically, the personal energy they have and are able to cultivate. Without the ability to personally cultivate and maintain energy, putting energy into others through acts of empathy or compassion will be exhausting to the point of debilitating. Many of us are here, we are brittle, and personal battery energy is LOW. We cannot be a change maker, an empathetic leader, or human centered innovator if we are low in physical or emotional energy.

So, it’s all about personal energy harvesting in order to fuel change making.

With the real effects of climate change happening AND a cultural shifting to “doing the right thing” for the environment, we are gradually moving from fossil fuel usage to a more sustainable green energy solution in order to generate energy to power civilization. While the shift is difficult and the technology is costly at the moment, the energy source is readily available and almost infinitely abundant. The energy source has ALWAYS been here.

So the question is, what energy sources do we, as individuals, have that have always been here? What fossil fuels are we using that sustain our energy, yet are finite? I’ve got some thoughts on this, but will leave you, the reader, to ponder this over the weekend.

Happy Friday-ing ya’ll!

With energy,

Shelton
